Respect Life Committee
Our
focus as a group is on the many life issues that confront our country today.
We bring our Catholic values to issues from conception to natural death
and everything in between. Through prayer, education, support for respect
life organizations and respect life legislators, events such as the Spiritual
Adoption Program, and participation in walks for life we become an instrument
for change.
The Spiritual Adoption Program is where each parishioner "spiritually" adopts an unborn child and prays for that child throughout the nine months until birth. At the end of nine months we all come together to celebrate the birth of the child on the feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is also the National Night of Prayer for Life. We bring gifts for each child that are collected and then distributed to organizations that support women in need during and after their pregnancy such as Momma’s House, Project Chance, Life Center, Good Council Home and Regina House.
In our support for respect life legislators we bring awareness to the parish on current legislation through bulletin announcements, education nights and flyers.
